AI and\u00a0machine learning<\/a>\u00a0are mentioned together so often that some people \u2013 non-technical folks especially \u2013 might think they\u2019re one and the same. They\u2019re\u00a0related but not actually interchangeable terms<\/a>: Machine learning is a subset, or a specific discipline, of AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s a relatively straightforward example. Start adding other terms and technologies into the mix \u2013 deep learning<\/a> is yet another subset of machine learning, for instance \u2013 and the opportunities abound for further misconceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deciphering the differences between terms and technologies takes a twist with\u00a0robotic process automation (RPA<\/strong>)<\/a>\u00a0and AI. We\u2019re going to break it down so you can explain it – even to non-technical audiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, there\u2019s some disagreement on the basic relationship between the two. While just about everyone agrees that machine learning is an AI discipline, that same consensus doesn\u2019t exist with RPA<\/strong> and AI.
